The Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic defeated Russian Nikolay Davydenko 6:1, 7:5 in 1 hour and 42 minutes to win the Masters Cup in Shanghai. Serbia’s world number three started 2008 season with the Australian Open title and ended it in style with the title in Shanghai, to finish just 10 points behind Roger Federer. This win brought him 650 ATP points, 1.240.000$ and a Mercedes. Djokovic lifted three Masters trophies this year - Indian Wells, Rome and Shanghai, won 64 out of 81 matches, and earned 5.189.077$. He begins 2009 season in Brisbane on January 5th , where he will have a chance to reach no.2 ranking for the first time in his career.
